Dwayne Bryant: Founder, President and U13 Head Coach

 

Coach Bryant is a native of New Orleans who came to the Washington DC Metro Area on a basketball scholarship to Georgetown University. He is a former McDonalds, Parade, Street’s and Smith High School All American. Coach Bryant was a four year starter at point guard for Hall of Fame Coach John Thompson and he is still among the leaders at Georgetown University in assist 5th, steals 8th and three-point shooting 2nd.  After his playing career, Coach Bryant decided to take on the challenge of becoming a high school basketball coach.


He is entering his 17th year coaching high school basketball and his 10th year as the head varsity basketball coach at Georgetown Prep. In his first nine years at Georgetown Prep, he has a record of 183-72; along the way he has won two IAC League Championships and two IAC Tournament Championships.

Diana DePaul: Vice President

 

Diana DePaul is a native of Wilm, DE. Played basketball since 9 yrs old. Three year starter at University of Richmond in VA.  Received Kodak All American Honors in High School.  Over the past 15 years, worked her way up through all ranks of officiating to achieve Division I status. She officiates at the Division I level for nine conferences to include ACC, Big East and Atlantic 10. Consistently works various conference post season tournaments. Ms. DePaul has been selected to work the NCAA Post Season tournament for the past four years. In past years, she was selected to officiate both the Junior College National Championship and Division II National Championship games . She also received training through the NBA and officiated in their Developmental Basketball League (NBDL) .  In 2007, she was selected by FIBA to be the United States female representative for the World University Games  in Bangkok, Thailand where she was again selected to be the Head Referee in the “Gold” Championship Game.  Currently, she has a daughter playing for Coach Bryant’s team.

Karina Bond: U13 Head Coach

 

Karina Bond has been involved in athletics – first as a player and later as a trainer and coach - for much of her life.  She is a recent graduate of the University of Maryland, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Science Kinesiology and Physical Education.  Before finishing her education at UMD, she attended Beloit College in Wisconsin, where she was a member of the Women's Basketball and Softball teams and worked toward her teaching and coaching certification.  While getting her degree from UMD, Karina worked as a Student Athletic Trainer for UMD's Athletic Department for three years, where she assisted in training men and women athletes for the University.  She also worked for two years as the Co-Head Coach for Varsity Girls' Soccer, Basketball and Softball at Oakcrest High School in Virginia.  Over the past five years, she has trained and coached younger athletes in the area through various organizations, including One-on-One Basketball, HoopEd,DC Stoddert, and Jelleff.  She has led two girls recreational basketball teams to league championships, one in DC and one in Montgomery County.Her passion is teaching, training and coaching kids to be excellent athletes with good values.Karina has just accepted a position at the Walter Johnson High School in Montgomery County starting in the fall 2009, where she will be teaching in the Physical Education Department.

 

 


 

 

 

Mike Wilson: U12 Head Coach

 

Michael Wilson has over 14 years of professional and collegiate basketball experience. He is a 10-year veteran of the Harlem Globetrotters. In 2000 he set the "Guinness World Record" for the highest slam-dunk on a 12-foot goal.


He has traveled the country and the world as a Harlem Globetrotter, appearing in numerous television ads and shows.

 

He is also a motivational speaker.  Most recently he directed basketball operations for Headfirst Sports, a preeminent Youth Sports organization in Washington, DC.  Mike majored in education at the University of Memphis, where he played under Coach Larry Finch. He was a starting forward on the 1995 Tiger team that made it to the NCAA Sweet 16.

Antwan Brown: U11 Head Coach

 

Coach Brown has over nine years coaching experience with both young ladies and various boys organizations. He has served in our United States Army where he both played and was the Head Coach of their company team. He graduated from nearby Forestville High School where he played Point Guard/Shooting Guard all four yrs. He graduated from Livingstone College and earned a MA of Leadership from Webster University. Currently, he is the Executive Director of Basketball for Mike Wilson’s “World Record Basketball” which provides training and instruction to youth from 4 to 14. Antwan was an Asst Coach for Salisbury HS Girls JV team. He has coached several Montgomery County boys teams from ages 13 to 17 where they consistently played in the Championship games. His US Army team placed 1st in the Men's divsion both years he coached.  He loves to work with the youth in our area and develop and instill a passion like he has for basketball.

Brian Wilson: U11 Head Coach

 

A 1986 graduate of the College of William & Mary, Brian Wilson brings over twenty years of experience coaching girls basketball at every level from youth league to AAU, high school, and college camps and clinics.

During an eleven-year high school coaching career, which included stints at Montrose Christian and Holy Child, his teams won five league championships and one national title, and the Washington Post named him conference coach of the year three times. Nearly a dozen of his players earned All-Met recognition or went on to play in college, with two becoming the first girls in their respective schools histories to play college basketball.

In 1995, Brian led a team of Washington-area high school basketball players to Belgium, where the girls competed in a week-long event against teams from across Europe. He has served as a staff coach at girls' summer camps run by Future Stars, Villanova University (2 years), and Marymount University (5 years). He has also worked as an instructor at Marymount’s post player and shooting specialty camps for high school girls.

For the past four years, along with Larry Gray, Brian has coached the current 1998/11U team, who earned the PVAAU Silver Medal in 2008 and finished fourth at Division II AAU Nationals in 2009.

Tim Koeppl: U10 Head Coach

 

Tim is a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and a graduate of Marquette University and the University of San Diego School of Law.  He was a three-sport athlete in high school and played varsity football in college.  After graduating from Marquette, Tim was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps, where he had the unique opportunity to play for and coach military basketball teams in Africa, the Middle East, and the Far East.  Tim has been coaching girl's basketball for the past five seasons.  In addition to his work as a trial lawyer and coaching duties, he is also heavily involved along with his wife and four kids in Ronald McDonald House Charities.
